The following position is open at Hocking College:                   

Fire Instructor (Adjunct) – Hocking College and the School of Health and Safety is receiving applications for an adjunct instructor to teach fire classes.  This position will be under the direct supervision of the Dean of the School of Health and Safety.

Position Requirements

Posting Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Fire Science or Fire and Emergency Services required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Degree must be from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent as verified by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

  • Current Ohio Department of Public Safety Certification as a Firefighter I and Firefighter II Instructor.

  • Minimum of 5 years full time, professional experience as a paid firefighter if Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Minimum of 7 years full time experience as a paid firefighter if Associate’s Degree.

  • Evidence of professional development in the field of concentration as demonstrated by activity in professional associations, consultative practice; participation in seminars, workshops, and formal course work, and individual reading and research.

  • Classes may include:FS 1115 Firefighter II; FS 1116 Fire Prevention and Investigative Techniques; FS 2253 Fire Hydraulics; and FS 1102 Emergency Vehicle Defensive Driving
