The Hocking College Library serves the students, faculty, and staff of the college. The collection supports the curriculum of the college and includes 17,000 books, 228 periodical titles, and 5,000 media titles.

The circulation and media information desk is located at the entrance of the Library. Reserve materials, including copies of textbooks, media, OhioLINK and other interlibrary loan materials are kept at this desk. It is also the place to borrow and return books and a good place to ask for information or help when you begin to use the Library.

BORROWING MATERIALS

Book loan period for FACULTY & STAFF

HC Library books are loaned to faculty and staff for the duration of the academic quarter.

OhioLINK books are loaned to faculty and staff for 21 days and can usually be renewed four times.

The Hocking College Library does not charge fines but materials borrowed from other OhioLINK libraries are $.50 per day for each day overdue. Recalled materials are $2.00 per day.

Periodicals (magazines), media, reference, and reserve books are for use in the Library only.

There is a $.10 per page charge for all magazine articles ordered from other OhioLINK member libraries. Fees will vary for articles ordered through standard interlibrary loan channels.

All books must be returned and all financial obligations to the Library must be met by the last day of the quarter. Failure to meet these requirements will result in suspended Library privileges and the amount owed will be billed to the patron's account, and a freeze on the ability to register for classes or to request transcripts.

BORROWING MEDIA AND EQUIPMENT

Faculty and staff can borrow media materials for 7 days. This material should be picked up and returned to the Library.

Faculty and staff must request the delivery of equipment 24 hours in advance to be guaranteed the delivery of equipment to their classroom or place of instruction. Delivery equipment includes: VHS, 3/4" u-matic, laser disk, overhead projector, document camera, video presenter, slide projector, audio cassette, CD player, camcorder, easel, video projector and PC computer. Each classroom on the Hocking College campus houses an overhead projector on a cart and a hanging monitor with a DVD/VHS player. Check the Audiovisual Equipment Housed in Classrooms list to see what equipment is permanently placed in classrooms. Equipment deliveries can be arranged by calling Karen Graves, ext. 6333.

The Media Preparation Area is available to faculty, staff, and student employees of the College. This area contains equipment for transparency making, roll laminator, dry mount press, Letteron lettering machine, paper cutter, color copier, spiral binder, and posterboard. Computers are available with a variety of software to meet the needs of faculty. The area also includes color and black and white scanners, digital and 35mm cameras.

Laptops can be borrowed at the front desk for use within the library only. You must present an ID (student ID, driver's license, or state ID; we will hold it at the front desk until the laptop is returned), and fill out a checkout form. Checkout lasts 2 hours. If the borrower leaves the library with the laptop, it will be considered stolen and the Hocking College Police will be notified immediately.

Digital cameras are available at the front desk. We require that you have a student ID (we will keep the ID until the camera is returned), and you must fill out a checkout form. Checkout is for 24 hours only. There is no cost to use a camera, however there are late fees ($5.00 per day) for late returns, damage fees (cost of replacing the damaged part/s) and replacement fees ($200.00) if the unit is lost or stolen. Fines and fees are non-negotiable. If a camera is not returned within 2 days, it will be considered lost or stolen and the Hocking College Police will be contacted immediately.
