Position Information

Position Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the VP of Financial Services performs the following duties: general accounting functions, hold oversight of procurement and procurement processes, grants, start-up ventures, fixed assets, and other forms of accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures that best accomplish and are aligned with the institution’s mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Create, manage, and maintain the Fiscal Services General Bookkeeping, general journal entries, and other journals to be posted in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the entry and maintenance of the Fixed Assets System.
  • Oversight of all off-ledger bookkeeping and reporting for auxiliary components of Hocking College including but not limited to entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Assist the Executive Director in completing 990 Forms.
  • Maintain and Report on the activities of all Hocking College Clubs.
  • Complete all requirements for start-up operations including but not limited to vendor’s licenses and sales tax reporting.
  • Complete all Bank Reconciliations for the College
  • Be the liaison between the Vice President of Financial Services and the Grants Department to ensure proper practice and accounting guidelines are adhered to.
  • Maintain all Leases and accounting for leases at the College.
  • Work with the Hocking College Foundation on Bookkeeping, Reporting, and check disbursements.
  • Collaborate with the Controller on 1099 and 1098-T processing.
  • Serve as a backup for the Accounts Payable position.
  • Serve as a backup for the Cashiers Office as needed.
  • Continued work with Vendors, Vendor Relations, and Rewards Programming for the College.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude toward the mission of the College and its clients.

Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Demonstrated experience of positive and proactive approaches in identifying problems, creating innovative solutions, managing projects, and implementing efficiencies and effectiveness using technology
  • Demonstrate ability to manage tasks, functions, and personnel
  • Possess a strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to manage in a regulatory environment
  • Strong information technology skills and abilities
  • Tactful, positive interpersonal skills, cooperative attitude, attention to detail, and strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle conflict and stress and resolve situations in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated positive attitude toward the mission of the College and its clients
